Zack Greinke whitewashed Ashland on 3 hits at Dodger Stadium as the
Duluth-Superior Dukes won in their last at-bat beating the Ashland Penguins
by the count of 1 to 0.
The game was won by Duluth-Superior with a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning. After an out was recorded, James Loney doubled. Delmon Young
stepped up to the plate and he doubled giving Duluth-Superior the victory and
sending the 47,059 home-town fans home happy. Duluth-Superior totaled 7 hits
on the night.
Greinke(4-2) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Drew
Storen(0-2) absorbed the loss in relief. With this win, Duluth-Superior has
a division leading 21-14 record. They have been 4-6 lately. Not able to get
much going in recent weeks, Ashland is 1-9 of late and now has an overall
record of 15-16.
