Jon Lester reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts and Matt Holliday lofted one
into the 'cheap seats' and had 3 RBI as the Madawaska Maulers outscored the
Duluth-Superior Dukes 4 to 2.

Lester(9-1) earned his pay with a solid performance for Madawaska. He was
reached for 6 hits and 4 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings and allowed 2 gopher
balls. Duluth-Superior had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up
short.

Mitchell Boggs recorded the save, his 2nd. Anibal Sanchez(6-7) took the loss.
Lester was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt
pretty confident in my pitches tonight. But, I had great support behind me
and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely well called game!'

Colby Lewis mowed down 12 Duluth-Superior batters as the Madawaska Maulers
defeated the Duluth-Superior Dukes 3 to 2 at Dodger Stadium.

Lewis(6-5) gave a fine effort for Madawaska. He surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk
in 7 innings. Duluth-Superior threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.

Lewis got relief help from Jesse Litsch who gained credit for his 2nd save.
The losing pitcher was Chris Carpenter(8-4). Lewis didn't realize how many
strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 12 he was obviously
surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't
think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'

Madawaska Maulers 6 to 5.

Loney provided much of the offense. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 1st
inning, blasted a solo shot in the 6th inning and lashed a single in the 8th
inning. Madawaska made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push
the needed runs across.

Greinke(7-2) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 7 innings. Huston Street
recorded his 13th save. Henderson Alvarez(0-1) took the loss. 'Everything

Albert Pujols hit a homerun as the Portland Beavers beat the Duluth-Superior
Dukes by a score of 7 to 2.

Duluth-Superior fell behind quickly as the Portland offense came through in
the first inning with 2 runs. Ian Kinsler opened up the inning nicely when
he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Chris Coghlan came to the plate
and doubled. Mark Reynolds then would ground out. Pujols got his chance to
keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Portland ended up with 12
hits for the game while Duluth-Superior had 7.

The winning pitcher was Josh Beckett(3-7) who allowed 2 runs in 7 innings.
