The Duluth-Superior Dukes nipped the Inyo Face in 11 innings 9 to 8 at Dodger
Stadium in a hard fought contest.
 
The score was tied at 8 after nine. Finally, Duluth-Superior prevailed in the
11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Ian Desmond laced a base-hit.
Desmond got a good lead and stole second.  Michael Bourn then doubled giving
Duluth-Superior the victory and sending the 48,250 home-town fans home happy.
Both teams totaled 14 hits on the night.  
 
Matt Capps(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 4 innings. Mike Adams(0-1)
was charged with the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 2 hits in 1 and
1/3 innings.

Inyo was unable to climb back into it after Duluth-Superior went ahead for
good in the 2nd inning plating an isolated run on 2 base hits.  That early
scoring held up.  After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.
 
Sanchez(2-0) was credited with the shutout. Roy Halladay(0-1) absorbed the
loss.  Duluth-Superior knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 5 runs in 4
innings.  
 
'I thought it was my best performance in a long time,' said Sanchez. 'I had
good command early in the game. I had my control and composure and everything
went well.'

The Duluth-Superior Dukes edged the Inyo Face at Dodger Stadium by the score
of 4 to 3.
 
Duluth-Superior brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 6th
inning with the help of 3 hits.  After an out was recorded, Ryan Theriot
started the rally when he tripled.  One out later, Mark Trumbo came to bat
and slapped a one-base hit.  J.P. Arencibia then drew a walk.  Paul Janish
followed next and he delivered a base-hit.  Sean Marshall relieved and was
untouched by Inyo as he recorded the save, his 1st.  
 
Chris Carpenter(2-0) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory.
Mark Buehrle(0-1) was tagged with the loss.  'I had a little blister on my
index finger before the game, but I thought it was nothing.' Carpenter said.
'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put the ball where I wanted it.'

48,723 fans were treated to a fine game at Dodger Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Inyo Face won by the slimmest of
margins, 4 to 3.
 
The game was won by Inyo with a run in the 9th inning. Todd Helton ripped a
base-hit.  Kyle Seager stepped into the batter's box and he doubled.  Josh
Willingham followed, but he was set down on strikes.  Hunter Pence was up
next and he slapped a single.  Yunel Escobar came to the plate and banged out
a single.  Adam Jones added to the outburst and drew a walk to load the
bases.  Duluth-Superior went down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th.
 
The victory went to Bill Bray(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing 1 run. Sergio
Santos earned his 1st save.  Octavio Dotel(1-1) took the loss in relief.  He
saw his ERA jump from 2.70 to 4.15 as gave up 1 run in 1 inning.

Granderson had a big day against Duluth-Superior.  He clubbed a solo home run
in the 3rd inning, blasted a solo shot in the 5th inning and stroked a
one-base hit in the 9th inning.  The Plainsfield offense man-handled the

At Dodger Stadium the Plainsfield Hitmen outdistanced the Duluth-Superior
Dukes by a final score of 6 to 2.
 
Plainsfield brought 3 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning when they came
up with 3 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Curtis Granderson began the
Plainsfield spurt when he hit a bases-empty home run.  Mike Napoli was next
and he banged out a single.  Paul Konerko then drew a walk.  Stephen Drew
followed next and he doubled.  Dan Haren stepped into the box and would
ground out.  Dustin Pedroia contributed to the rally and drew a walk.  The
early run support proved sufficient for Haren(1-0) and Plainsfield.  That was
all the run support Haren required.  Plainsfield had 11 hits overall, while
Duluth-Superior had 5.

In a thriling finish the Duluth-Superior Dukes pulled off the win over the
Belmont Park Met Milers by a score of 5 to 4 at Dodger Stadium.
 
The game was decided in the 9th inning.  Dexter Fowler ripped a single.  James
Loney was next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  After another out, Skip
Schumaker stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk.  Jorge Posada stepped
in and he ripped a one-base hit making Duluth-Superior the victors to the
delight of the home town faithful.  Duluth-Superior managed 11 hits in their
victory.  
 
Octavio Dotel(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Guillermo
Mota(0-1) took the loss in relief.  Duluth-Superior extended their winning

Dexter Fowler had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the Duluth-Superior Dukes defeated
the Belmont Park Met Milers in 11 innings by the score of 5 to 4 at Dodger
Stadium.
 
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  Finally, Duluth-Superior
prevailed in the 11th inning.  Skip Schumaker led off and got things going
when he laced a base-knock.  J.P. Arencibia next to the plate and he tripled.
Michael Bourn then delivered a one-base hit.  Duluth-Superior finished with
14 hits while Belmont Park ended up with 8.  
 
The win was credited to David Pauley(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing 1 run.
Jordan Walden(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.

In a lop-sided win the Duluth-Superior Dukes put 4 runs on the scoreboard in
the 4th inning and ripped the Hoth Rebels by a 7 to 2 count.
 
Duluth-Superior drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first
inning scoring 3 runners on 3 hits.  That early scoring held up.
Duluth-Superior totaled 10 hits on the night.  
 
Chris Carpenter(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings
and allowing 1 run. Jeff Francis(0-1) was given the loss.  He was not very
effective, surrendering 7 runs in 4 innings.

separated the combatants at game's end.  The Duluth-Superior Dukes won by the
slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.
 
The game started off with Duluth-Superior taking the lead in the first when
they scored 3 runs on 1 hit.  Hoth out-hit Duluth-Superior 9 to 5, but
Duluth-Superior ended up with more runs.  
 
The winning pitcher was Zack Greinke(1-0) who allowed 5 runs in 6 and 2/3
innings. Matt Capps earned his 1st save.  Wandy Rodriguez(0-1) was charged
with the loss.  
 
'I struggled a bit out there tonight,' Greinke said, 'but I toughed it out and
we got the win.'

Cliff Lee racked up an impressive total of 13 strikeouts at Dodger Stadium
where the Duluth-Superior Dukes beat the Hoth Rebels by the score of 6 to
4.
 
Lee(1-0) pitched a solid game.  He was reached for 9 hits and 1 walk in 8
innings.  Huston Street was perfect in relief and got the save, his 1st.
 
Ryan Dempster(0-1) was the losing pitcher.  He was hit hard and gave up 7 hits
and 4 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.  'Everything felt great' Lee said. 'I had a
good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody today.'
