In a tight game it was the Duluth-Superior Dukes 5, the Inyo Face 3 at Dodger
Stadium.

Duluth-Superior jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they
tallied 4 runs on 4 hits. That early run support was enough for Anibal
Sanchez(2-1) and Duluth-Superior. Rafael Soriano was perfect in relief and
gained credit for his 3rd save.

Mark Buehrle(1-1) absorbed the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 7 hits in 6
innings. 'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is
especially sweet' offered Mike Swanson. Now, we just have to make this the
norm - not the exception!'

the 8th inning. Duluth-Superior banged out 13 hits on the night.

WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Ryan Dempster robbed Carlos Gonzalez of a base hit.

Ryan Dempster went 9 strong innings as the Hoth Rebels beat the
Duluth-Superior Dukes by a score of 1 to 0.

Hoth scored what proved to be the only run of the contest in the top of the
5th inning. Duluth-Superior made it exciting in the 9th, but they were
unable to push the needed runs across.

Dempster(1-0) went the distance for the shutout. Cliff Lee(0-1) was the loser.
He surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.

'All of my pitches were working today,' Dempster said. 'I felt really good
out there, and heck, I think I could have gone longer.'
