In a thriling finish the Duluth-Superior Dukes pulled off the win over the
SoCal Knights by a score of 2 to 1 at Dodger Stadium.

Duluth-Superior scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
After two were out Ian Desmond reached on an error. Desmond was safe on a
stolen base. J.P. Arencibia then was walked intentionally. Michael Bourn
was up next and he ripped a single making Duluth-Superior the victor and
beginning a joyous home town celebration. SoCal out-hit Duluth-Superior 7 to
4, but Duluth-Superior ended up with more runs.

Ryan Webb(3-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Joe
Smith(6-8) was the losing pitcher in relief. It was a tough loss for him as
he did not allow an earned run in his 2 and 2/3 innings of work.

In a dramatic ending the very potent Franklin Kites staged a comeback and held
on to win over the Duluth-Superior Dukes by the count of 4 to 3.

Franklin had the winning rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 5 base
hits. Jimmy Rollins led off and keyed the rally when he laced a base-knock.
Rollins was safe on a stolen base. Geoff Blum then cleared the fences for a
two-run home run. After an out was recorded, Ryan Hanigan came to the plate
and ripped a base-hit. Neil Walker came up to bat and smacked a single.
Reed Johnson extended the rally and laced a single to load the bases. Jay
Bruce came next and he grounded into a double play. Franklin finished with
13 hits while Duluth-Superior ended up with 8.

The winning pitcher was Alfredo Aceves(6-5) who allowed 2 runs in 2 and 1/3
innings. Joel Hanrahan got the save, his 31st. Huston Street(0-5) was the
losing pitcher in relief.

Chris Walsh was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'
