Paul Maholm retired 10 batters on strikeouts as the strong Franklin Kites
defeated the Duluth-Superior Dukes by the score of 6 to 3 at Dodger
Stadium.
 
Maholm(6-3) delivered a fine performance for Franklin.  He went 5 and 2/3
innings allowing 6 hits and 3 walks.  Franklin had 10 hits for the afternoon
while Duluth-Superior had 7.  
 
Alfredo Aceves got the save, his 14th.  The loss was charged to Jason
Vargas(4-12).  'He was really impressive today,' Vargas said of his
counterpart.  'Our guys were just swinging at air.'
