Chris Carpenter retired 10 batters on strikeouts at Dodger Stadium as the
Montreal Sunsets lost a heartbreaker to Duluth-Superior Dukes by the score of
4 to 3.
Duluth-Superior won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Ian
Desmond hit a bases-empty home run making Duluth-Superior victorious to the
delight of the the home town crowd. Although they lost, Montreal did out-hit
Duluth-Superior 8 to 4.
Nelson Figueroa(2-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. The
losing pitcher was Matt Guerrier(3-5) in relief. This win by Duluth-Superior
continues their recent hot streak. In their last ten games, they have a
record of 8-2. For the season, they are 70-51. Daniel Valois was pretty
down after the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something
like 2-8 in the last week or two. That won't get it done.'
